Violet-Green Hinge is deceptively simple, and is anything but minimalistic. The longer I look, the more I see the subtle illusion that makes it flat, but not flat. The kinetic tension of its back and forth spatial mind-boggle emphasizes the razor’s edge between emotion and logic, nature and geometry. Also, it took me years to notice that it slips back and forth between being a hinge made of triangles and a two-toned upright slab. — Barbara Davis
